[the planetarium has quickly become one of his preferred places to spend time, when he has nothing better to do. it's dark, quiet-- not a bad place to avoid crowds of others.
not that he entirely minds company with the potential to be decent, and so when he enters to find their local centaur already present, he doesn't immediately leave.]
Spending a bit of time with the stars, are you-- I expect you would recognize at least some?
[surely every old man here has some they know, with the number of them they've seen.
[He says with his eyes locked on one constellation in particular, expression an odd shade of neutrality in the dark. He's settled on the floor instead of standing at his full height, for once, legs tucked underneath and his long tail curled around the base of his equine-half.
... But he will turn long enough to offer a nod at the other, respectful, and then return his stare back up]
But there are many more that I do not recognize at all.
[Unlike on Tuesday where they ran into each other inside the planetarium, this time Chiron is coming out of it, seemingly untroubled save for the briefly hints of graveness in his expression.
He'll nod to Emet-Selch, respectfully, voice thoughtful as he speaks.]
[... Well. That was certainly a turn for the worst.
And yet, Chiron doesn't look particularly upset or moved by the conclusions of that trial (though perhaps that's just because it's rather dark in the planetarium, yes this is just their meet-up place now).
Pikachu was an unnecessary loss, of course, but his thoughts have already turned to other concerns, and he's silent by the time Emet-Selch enters, hands fiddling with a small doll in his possession.]
but this time it's teatime in the planetarium, apparently, at some convenient time when 50 other people aren't trying to contact their npcs... as always, emet-selch keeps a short distance between the two of them.]
It could certainly have been messier. She could have been made to do so more directly.
[more observational than anything else. really, the guillotine was an easy option compared to something like handing yona a sword.]
[It's basically their house at this point tbh, will they ever meet anywhere else? Science points to no.
And so, Chiron passes a cup of tea -- the type that's been meticulously brewed by someone who has been doing this for many years -- nodding quietly in agreement]
Virid went willingly as well. Had it been someone more... aggressive in their last moments...
[Well, that certainly would have changed the tone, wouldn't it?]
[He had, of course, agreed to postpone their meeting at Emet's request, asking very little questions when it was clear what the problem was. The Realm did have a habit of playing games with everyone, didn't it? A fact he had let slide the week prior, but this time his pride won't easily stand for more needless embarrassment.
... Which is why him lasting but a day and a half is both cause for concern and some carefully tucked-away irritation, strong enough to prompt him deeper into the forest lest someone cross his path. No one here is familiar with centaurs; it's on him to bear the responsibility of staying away when he's not in the mood for conversation.
But it's turned him into a ticking time bomb, he soon realizes, when carving out more arrows and shooting at the trees stops being distracting. By mid-afternoon, he's frustrated enough to go sulking under a tree, arms folded stubbornly across his chest. At this rate, he knows that he will likely give in and seek the other out--
But he's going to be a mule instead of a centaur about it.]
[They're reacting to it much the same way, honestly-- Emet-Selch has been just as irritated about the situation. He shouldn't be so easily affected, so handily toyed with, so to have these compulsions feel more difficult to fight off feels almost like a response to doing his best to ignore it in the previous week. As if the Realm is mocking him, insisting on this in some form.
And, ultimately, they have much the same idea. Although he knows he may well find a centaur in the woods, he's not inclined to deal with any of the others, putting some distance there... and eventually, coming across the very person he's avoided.
The feeling eases, but it seems just being here isn't quite enough. Also annoying, not to mention tiring; then again, he's felt a bit tired already.]
Hiding out here, are you? I had half a mind to do the same.
[He hadn't meant to cause a scene, but neither had he expected to walk in on a crowd, either. His rather dramatic exit had just been the best plan of action he could see in the moment.
-- Of course, he's also concussed and so dizzy that by the time he reaches the middling part of the woods, he all but collapses now that he's out of the public eye. It's... been a while since he's felt the heavy weight of mortality.
Ah well. His only reassurance is that this isn't enough to kill him, thank the gods for that, he still has plenty left to do here. So it's fine if he rests a moment, right? The ground is soft enough, and perhaps the rest of the children will be so focused on tending to each other that few will look for him.
Forcing himself to lean against a tree trunk instead of falling over on his side, Chiron lays down his bow (ignores the throbbing in his shoulder because now would be a foolish time to rip the arrow out), and then closes his eyes. Five minutes should be sufficient enough...
... As he then proceeds to pass out for a half hour]
[the children might be busy, but a bitch is not. he's been suffering the compulsion with no way to seek chiron out, and then he shows up like this and runs away?
absolutely not.
emet-selch has probably already attempted to wake him by the time he opens his eyes-- and when he does, it'll be to the company of one very exasperated man.]
Well, it's about time. Just what were you thinking, running off in such a state-- running off at all to wherever you went, to get so injured? I expected this of the others, but you...
[a huff of a sigh, a shake of his head.]
We will return to that later. Take stock of your injuries.
[In which Chiron again Ran Off to be useful but he will come back because if he doesn't, Emet will find him and cook him or something.
Though rather than his room, he will seek out Emet's room given that his... roommate is dead. And even at his most charitable, Chiron has doubts the other immortal (???) is particularly shaken up about this truth.
Well. Regardless. There's going to be a knock at the door]
[there's just silence, before the door opens several moments later-- not far at all at first, but on finding chiron there, he opens it further to allow him in.]
[well, here we are again at the room emet-selch has to himself for the rest of the weekend! he's reclined on his bed, arms folded behind his head, and we are assuming he's already let chiron in.]
Well? Any changes in your evaluation of the group as a whole?
[Good because (assuming this is Chiron's last stop, he ain't leaving after this) the horse is in a corner, laid out on the floo for once instead of trying to appear dignified against a wall, head curled over a pillow like he has a pounding headache]
We were too generous before -- we will not last another two weeks at this rate.
I require your assistance, if you're willing to give it.
[Walking straight up to Emet once he's finished having ... many conversations with those who likely found his actions questionable, no doubt, and while Chiron's expression is mild, there is a tightness lurking around the edges.]
[what's up he woke up rooming with a teen he thinks is annoying and immediately left! it's been a bit of time, since emet-selch has been busy poking around the newest area... but he eventually finds chiron in the woods, looking roughly as done with everything as he ever is.]
A glance, though I will look in more detail later -- especially more suitable living arrangements.
[please imagine this horse getting in a hammock. Tragic. Anyway there's a nod at what is in his hands, the reason for his lack of adventure -- it's the beginnings of Emet-Selch's bow, with the shape more or less carved out]
[I fuckin swear if they swerve into depressing territory again--
Anyway an ancient centaur in a forest is the low hanging fruit, so for once Chiron has taken himself into the newer areas. While the sea isn't actually alien to him -- he remembers on occasion having to board ships and teach his students how to sail -- it is enough of a change in scenery that he finds himself lingering through the town and the port with a bit of wander lust in his steps.
Though eventually, when the nostalgia hits -- well, it proves a good companion for his sudden melancholy that he dare not tell anyone about; thus, a wonderful excuse to test the limits of his new lyre, fully carved and tuned once he finds the strings for it. By no means is this his best work, and he finds the notes to be a little too light, lacking the weightiness of a proper lyre, but...
He sits himself on the fort where the music will best carry, back pressed against one of the walls and his front legs hanging off the sides. He plays with his eyes closed, mind drifting with the melody.]
[Well, technically Chiron's room is free for both of them to use as they see fit since Raven is... deceased, so the centaur will extend an invitation to Emet-Selch at some point, the door prompted slightly ajar.
When Emet enters, he'll see Chiron pulling out the knife from underneath the mattress, sighing]
[well, seeing as chiron is busy, emet-selch is just. casually taking that larger hammock that he doesn't use anyway. it's fine.]
Well, in fairness, they did not think they had a reason to search here. Given what the boy said about where he hid items, however...
[he exhales a sigh.]
If I can acquire the materials for it, I suppose it is time to consider affixing some form of holster within my clothing. The fabric itself has never been scrutinized in much detail.
[easier to fold up layers and conceal a gun in them than to let someone dig through your room.]
[he wasn't exactly looking for chiron, but when he comes across the centaur by the river... well. he can spare a few moments. he probably ought to check in, really, considering he tried to eat something and found himself unable to taste it at all. food paranoia is going to be so real this week.
anyway he doesn't know chiron is fucking blind so he just settles down on the bank nearby without saying anything, at first, the rustling of the grass as he moves announcing his presence instead.]
But at this point he knows what to expect and so keeps to the more natural areas of the town, particularly the forest and the river.
-- Or, in this case, retreating into the Planetarium when it's so dark, sight has little meaning anyway. As Emet-Selch had wished to speak with him, his head is already tilted in the other's direction.]
There is no one else here besides us. What is it that you wished to speak about?
[well, hello again. emet-selch wastes no time getting to the point.]
The new rule means at least one of the Leaders is vulnerable-- it has come into effect because they have lost the requisite number. They will be less able to defend themselves or escape if targeted.
[for someone so concerned, Chiron moves with a sluggishness unbecoming of someone usually so collected and at ease with his surroundings. Once the two of them settle on the forest to stay in, Chiron finds a tree and practically wilts against it, tucking himself on the ground in as small of a ball as he can manage.
There are new bandages covering both of his forearms, his chest and shoulder, and his usual tunic has been completely discarded. He wears instead a long cloth draped and wrapped over his frame in a style reminiscent of an age long gone.
For once, he says nothing and instead closes his eyes as if struggling to stay awake]
[so! after the talk with blanca, emet let chiron know they needed to speak in private about an urgent matter. he could talk to others first if he needed, but it was a conversation tonight, he'd been told.
and once they're safely alone, emet-selch gets right to the point.]
...I will require your assistance on the morrow. Shiro attacked me, last night.
And abiding by their unspoken promise, Chiron will find Emet in his "cell" of sorts, not even bothering to be subtle in how he seats himself somewhat close to the other.
His expression is... pale, exhausted, but there is no grief in it, either. They're too old for that]
... So much that even Chiron, old as he is, isn't sure what emotion is appropriate. There were many things said and no distance or time to process most of it, so this sudden promise of time -- at least an entire week's worth -- splays out before him like a forest he's uncertain how to navigate.
At least he knows himself not to be a coward about things, or to waste time. He gives Emet-Selch enough space to get his own bearings in order (and likely deal with the mountain of questions that will be thrown his way) before going to find him at some designated location.]
... I hope they didn't exhaust you so with their questions.
[he's not mad at anyone; it's just been a very trying day]
-oh, only somewhat. You know as well as I that they are ever eager.
[he sighs as he settles in; we'll say it's the forest because it feels appropriate, so he rests his back against a tree, tipping his head back with his eyes closed.]
Ruler came to see me last night, you know. Asking all manner of questions as to my thoughts on you.
[hello chiron! prior to the meeting they're having, emet-selch comes to find him, relieved they no longer have to deal with sense loss... but definitely with some purpose on his mind. he will wait until they're in private, before:]
...I told you that you would have to wait for your answer, and I may still be unable to give it. But there is something related which we need to discuss.
[a slight shake of his head.]
I-- remembered. What it is that I have never been able to ascertain, after it was my first loss.
[... arching a brow in his direction, head tilted. The fact he is bringing up such a thing now (and has regained a memory? Fortunate) is bemusing, but--)]
[Gonna just. gently forward date this before my brain forgets AGAIN--
But before the execution is meant to begin, Chiron decides he'd much rather talk with Emet-Selch instead of waiting for the usual drama that comes with having to watch someone innocent die, and so will seek him out early in the morning.]
If I could have a word with you? [A pause, he's thinking] Perhaps the planetarium or forest?
[-- only to think wince slightly to himself]
No, the former is too dark for this -- the forest then, if you do not mind.
The forest it is, then, if you have decided so swiftly.
[a slight quirk of his mouth, there, amused-- halfway to a smirk. he's never opposed to seeing chiron, really, so he's perfectly fine occupying themselves for a while before the proceedings begin.]
[He has spent much of his time either being a llama or looking after Alex and Hansa, but eventually Chiron will make his rounds to Emet's side as the week continues, frowning faintly at whatever bandages he's wearing.
Yes, yes -- he knows that everyone's current wounds aren't the sort that he can manage even with his oddly complex library of knowledge when it comes to medicinal remedies (that everyone continues to beg him to stop thinking about), but even still...]
It does not cause you too much discomfort, does it?
[... Oddly enough, Chiron does not appear to be bleeding like the rest of them...]
The blood is more a source of discomfort than the wound itself, yes.
[he's given up on not bleeding through everything he's tried to pack the wound with-- there's simply too much of it. he changes it often enough to try to mitigate it, but there's only so much to be done...]
...are you quite well? You do not appear to suffer in the same manner.
[but he knows none of them should escape this, so what is up with you, chiron.]
[... The worst part is Chiron truly doesn't know what Emet is referring to, that's how eager he was to be rid of that entire incident once it was clear Emet and Hansa would be fine.
So... he glances down at the other, uncertainly]
Clearly there is something that needs addressing... even if I can't recall what.

W3 || Post Trial
Yaaaaay....
And abiding by their unspoken promise, Chiron will find Emet in his "cell" of sorts, not even bothering to be subtle in how he seats himself somewhat close to the other.
His expression is... pale, exhausted, but there is no grief in it, either. They're too old for that]
Have they stopped demanding questions of you yet?
no subject
[he looks tired too-- still embittered, still with his expression set in harder edges, and he's settled on the ground at the moment.]
Do you mean to stay?

W3 || Sunday
A lot happened.
[he's not mad at anyone; it's just been a very trying day]
no subject
[he sighs as he settles in; we'll say it's the forest because it feels appropriate, so he rests his back against a tree, tipping his head back with his eyes closed.]
Ruler came to see me last night, you know. Asking all manner of questions as to my thoughts on you.

...I told you that you would have to wait for your answer, and I may still be unable to give it. But there is something related which we need to discuss.
[a slight shake of his head.]
I-- remembered. What it is that I have never been able to ascertain, after it was my first loss.

What is it that you remember?

W4 || Thursday
But they're still in a murder game so it's time to talk business at some point. Chiron will find Emet and get quickly to the point]
Apparently, my device can contact the dead. I do not know how long it will last, but I'd speak to you on what we should communicate with them.
no subject
[surprise! his too. he nods, at that.]
I considered sending Shiro a message, honestly, though I think it may be ill received.

No, the former is too dark for this -- the forest then, if you do not mind.
no subject
[a slight quirk of his mouth, there, amused-- halfway to a smirk. he's never opposed to seeing chiron, really, so he's perfectly fine occupying themselves for a while before the proceedings begin.]
What did you wish to speak of?

They still have duties to attend to.]

W6 || Tuesday
Yes, yes -- he knows that everyone's current wounds aren't the sort that he can manage even with his oddly complex library of knowledge when it comes to medicinal remedies (that everyone continues to beg him to stop thinking about), but even still...]
It does not cause you too much discomfort, does it?
[... Oddly enough, Chiron does not appear to be bleeding like the rest of them...]
no subject
[he's given up on not bleeding through everything he's tried to pack the wound with-- there's simply too much of it. he changes it often enough to try to mitigate it, but there's only so much to be done...]
...are you quite well? You do not appear to suffer in the same manner.
[but he knows none of them should escape this, so what is up with you, chiron.]

Ah- I had hoped to find you again, truthfully. I don't suppose there is anything you may have wished to tell the two of us, upon your return...?
no subject
So... he glances down at the other, uncertainly]
Clearly there is something that needs addressing... even if I can't recall what.
