The talk of suppression actually brings up something of note]
When I was taken away and forced to fight alongside Ochako... for a time, some of our powers returned to us.
So yes, I do believe you are correct to guess suppression.

That is my hope. If any of us were to regain even a fraction of our power at a convenient time, we could expand our options on how to proceed forward.
