[Well, technically Chiron's room is free for both of them to use as they see fit since Raven is... deceased, so the centaur will extend an invitation to Emet-Selch at some point, the door prompted slightly ajar.
When Emet enters, he'll see Chiron pulling out the knife from underneath the mattress, sighing]
[well, seeing as chiron is busy, emet-selch is just. casually taking that larger hammock that he doesn't use anyway. it's fine.]
Well, in fairness, they did not think they had a reason to search here. Given what the boy said about where he hid items, however...
[he exhales a sigh.]
If I can acquire the materials for it, I suppose it is time to consider affixing some form of holster within my clothing. The fabric itself has never been scrutinized in much detail.
[easier to fold up layers and conceal a gun in them than to let someone dig through your room.]
If it can be crafted thin enough and easily affixed directly to the fabric itself, yes. It must be removed along with the article of clothing rather than separately, to avoid suspicion, but without much extra bulk along with the weapon itself.
[rattling that off as he folds his arms behind his head.]
You, I am not surprised by, but none have ever questioned why I bring so few items with me, or what else I may have. Nor did they question that neither I nor my partner volunteered the effects of our previous reward.
[A bit of a tall order, but Chiron can't pretend he isn't interested to see if he can satisfy Emet's vision.]
Once or twice I have declined voicing the nature of a reward, and none questioned me. While I admit it makes more sense in my case, what are they to do if I were to kill? This is why they must be more thorough.
[Voice tinged with both exasperation and a bit of fondness, he will find a spot on the floor to lay down on, a respectful enough distance away from Emet]
... Speaking of rewards, where you gifted a bracelet of some kind? Mine will allow me to control lightning for an hour or so.
Frankly, if you killed, you would have to get yourself caught at this point.
Do not do so, by the way.
[he feels he needs to say so, though he also knows chiron is aware of his opinions.]
But yes, I did. [a moment of consideration, then:] It seems mine is slightly different from others I am aware of, however. A temporary reprieve from punishment for rule-breaking.
[He says with his eyes closed and an exasperated smile on his face, but y'know what? Fair. This is the universe paying reparations for that 13,000 trauma loan it took out]
[Seeming to mull over that for a moment, his tail flicking over his hind legs]
As we discussed before, Blanca is unlikely the only one granted special abilities. And as Shima alerted the group that a knife was pulled out of play, either they will believe Raven's killer took it, or begin to suspect that there are a different set of rules others are working by.
[...]
I would suggest to some of the children that there are those with abilities, to see what information they might bring to me. We need to find out who these people are, and what they know.
[A frown]
Otherwise, the speed at which we are starting to lose ourselves and memories will continue to accelerate. And I know a few people who admitted to me that they would kill if they lose the current version of themselves. Should they accidentally kill someone who could be useful to restoring the Realm...
Plant the seed, then, and see what grows from it. You may be able to learn more-- truth be told, you may be in one of the best positions for it. It seems you are quite well-trusted.
[a slight smirk, there. everyone loves horse dad... he wouldn't be surprised if they spill.]
And if you learn any others... then I will do the same as I have this weekend, and assist in protecting their lives.
[... Eyes softening a bit, at the mention of all the trust extended to him]
Yes, though I would not say I'm particularly deserving of it. Many place import on my counsel without realizing I will always do what must be done for the outcome I desire.
[He is here to help them in whatever way that he can, but on occasion, that means twisting the knowledge they offer freely]
But yes, I will keep you informed. [...] I do thank you for your assistance.
Then that is their own mistake, in not recognizing what you are. What we are-- that we do not see things in the ways that they do.
[there's nothing to feel bad about, he thinks. it isn't exactly taking advantage, simply... leaving out what the others don't already assume. what they don't know may hurt them, but nothing should be assumed of their kind.]
But you will have my assistance as long as there is need of it.
[... It aches a little to hear, because Emet-Selch is not wrong about the differences between those who have known such a long life, and those doomed to be snuffed out like candles.
But he'd rather just look over in amusement]
Likening yourself to a deity, are you?
[-- He's kidding. Chiron doesn't really consider himself a deity anyway]
[Pulling out a half-finished basket, the dried strips of sturdy grass sticking out like a crown]
I was mostly raised by my Master Apollo -- a god of many disciplines, one being prophecy. He taught me how to measure and read the stars, the earth, the body, the connections that make up the universe...
[gently weaving the grass into each other, now]
But knowing the future does not bring happiness, I soon realized. When fate is harsh, no one wants to see it, understandably. And when fate is kind, greed will often move humans to cruelty, so that they might keep their good fortunes.

When Emet enters, he'll see Chiron pulling out the knife from underneath the mattress, sighing]
They are so lacking in thoroughness.

[Regardless, he will take the knife and place it in one of his baskets. It's his? It's his.]
You wish for me to make you a holster, then? [Because naturally, he will. This is just determining if Emet wants to do it himself or not]
And yes, I have noticed you are not carefully examined... but then, neither am I.
[Spoken in amusement, a glance over his shoulder.]

We will see how they continue to change in the future, but I do believe we also ought to consider what more can be done with the group as a whole.

[Glancing at the other, expression mild again]
Do you mean in guiding them, or...?
[Well. Chiron uses the word "guide" but he is aware that's probably not the one Emet-Selch would use]

[he thinks the gap is not so wide, between a deity of the type chiron is and his own nature. the gods emet-selch knows are very different, after all.]
I do think we are similar enough, in the end.

[He's not as over the top as some Greek Gods, but Chiron would have believed Emet-Selch had he professed to having his own following]

[he settles a little further into the hammock, exhales slowly.]
Despite the presence of others with similar longevity-- I do feel as if you may be the closest to actually understanding, despite certain differences.

[His hands feel lost with nothing to do, and so he digs around in one of his baskets for a project to fuss over]
Fate works similarly. It will bear its fangs even to those who pay it proper respect -- part of the reason why I gave up prophesy.

Better for such things to never be placed in human hands.
no subject
... But the gods rarely did much better. I cannot fault humans when their deities hold weaknesses of their own.
